Inspection Procedure 7: Trunk lid opener switch does not work

cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of the outside transmission antenna assembly (trunk lid)
  • Malfunction of the trunk lid opener switch
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of the KOS&OSS-ECU
  • An ambient electric device or noise source interferes with this system when the trunk lid opener switch is operated.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the diagnostic trouble code.
Check if any DTC is set in the KOS&OSS-ECU.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to the "OFF" position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III) [Refer to "How to connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III) "].
(2) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to "ON".
(3) Check if DTC is set.
(4) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to "OFF".
Is the DTC set?
Refer to diagnostic trouble code chart .
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the trunk lid opener switch.
Check that the trunk lid opener switch is normal (Refer to ).
Is the trunk lid opener switch normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the trunk lid opener switch.

STEP 3. Resistance measurement at trunk lid opener switch connector (ground line)
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the trunk lid opener switch connector (ground line) and body ground.
OK: Continuity exists (2 ohms or less)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check of open circuit in ground line between the trunk lid opener switch connector and the body ground.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in GTRQ line between the KOS&OSS-ECU connector and the trunk lid opener switch connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Keyless operation system communication test
Check that the communication with the outside transmission antenna assembly (trunk lid) is normal (Refer to Antenna Test ).
  • Gate/Trunk lid antenna (outdoor)
OK: Normal is displayed.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Perform troubleshooting for DTC B240C (Refer to ).

STEP 7. Connection check of commercial electric products
Check whether commercial electric products are connected.
Are commercial electric products connected?
Disconnect the commercial electric products as they may be interfering with communication. Then go to Step 8.
Go to Step 8.

STEP 8. Check of the troubles
Operate the trunk lid opener switch and check that the trunk lid can be opened.
Is the check result normal?
Aggravation of radio wave condition caused by commercial electric products or intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Deal with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace KOS&OSS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
