Inspection procedure 2: The malfunction indicator light (SERVICE ENGINE SOON or check engine light) does not illuminate right after the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position

 
 
 
 
CIRCUIT OPERATION
  • The combination meter causes the malfunction indicator light (SERVICE ENGINE SOON or Check Engine Light) to illuminate immediately after the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position occurred.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this case:)
  • Combination meter failed.

 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the trouble symptoms.
(1) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
  • The malfunction indicator light (SERVICE ENGINE SOON or Check Engine Light) should illuminate immediately after the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position.
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Does the malfunction indicator light (SERVICE ENGINE SOON or Check Engine Light) illuminate?

Check the combination meter system. Refer to GROUP 54A, Combination Meter - Trouble Symptom Chart .
