Removal and Installation
 
 
REMOVAL
warningTo avoid the danger of being scalded, never drain the engine oil when the engine is hot.
noteWhen removing oil pan (lower) only, take step 2 and 3.
 
 
1. Remove engine under cover front. Refer to Removal and Installation.
2. Drain engine oil. Refer to DrainingDraining.
3. Remove oil pan (lower) with the following procedure:
  1. Loosen mounting bolts in reverse order as shown in the figure.
  2. Insert seal cutter [SST:KV10111100 (J-37228)] (A) between oil pan (upper) and oil pan (lower).
    cautionBe careful not to damage the mating surface.
 
 
INSTALLATION
cautionDo not reuse drain plug washer.
 
 
1. Install oil pan (lower) with the following procedure:
(1) Use a scraper (A) to remove old liquid gasket from mating surfaces.
  • Also remove old liquid gasket from mating surface of oil pan (upper).
  • Remove old liquid gasket from the bolt holes and threads.
cautionNever scratch or damage the mating surface when cleaning off liquid gasket.
(2) Apply a continuous bead of liquid gasket with a tube presser (commercial service tool) as shown in the figure.

(B): 7.5 - 9.5 mm (0.295 - 0.374 in)
(C): φ 3.4 - 4.4 mm (0.134 - 0.173 in)
: Engine outside
Use Genuine RTV Silicone Sealant or an equivalent. Refer to Recommended Chemical Products and SealantsRecommended Chemical Products and Sealants.
caution
  • Attaching should be done within 5 minutes after liquid gasket application.
  • Then allow 30 minutes for the liquid gasket to set before adding oil to the engine.
(3) Tighten bolts in numerical order as shown in the figure.
Oil pan (lower) bolts : 7.4 N·m (0.75 kg-m, 65 in-lb)
2. Install drain plug.
  • Refer to the figure of components of former page for installation direction of washer. Refer to Exploded View.
    cautionDo not reuse drain plug washer.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal after this step.
notePour engine oil at least 30 minutes after oil pan is installed.
