System Description
 
 
SYSTEM DIAGRAM
*: With automatic power liftgate system
The Keyless operation key has the same functions as the remote control entry function. Therefore, it can be used in the same manner as the remote controller by operating the door lock/unlock button.
Remote keyless entry function controls operation function of the following items.
  • Door lock and unlock function (Keyless operation key)
  • Selective unlock function (Keyless operation key)
  • Reminder function (Keyless operation key)
  • Auto door lock function (Keyless operation key)
  • Automatic power liftgate open/close function
  • Panic alarm
  • Remote engine start function
 
 
DOOR LOCK AND UNLOCK FUNCTION (INTELLIGENT KEY)
 
 
Operation Description
  • When door lock/unlock button of the Keyless operation key is pressed, lock signal or unlock signal is transmitted from Keyless operation key to Keyless operation key unit via remote keyless entry receiver.
  • Keyless operation key unit receives the signal and compares it with the registered key ID to the vehicle.
  • If the verification result is OK, Keyless operation key unit transmits the door lock/unlock request signal to BCM via CAN communication.
  • BCM transmits door lock/unlock signal to each door lock actuator, activates each door lock actuator.
 
 
Operation Condition
If the following condition is satisfied, door lock and unlock operation is performed if the Keyless operation key button is pressed.

SELECTIVE UNLOCK FUNCTION (INTELLIGENT KEY)
 
 
Lock Operation
When lock signal is sent from Keyless operation key, all doors are locked.
 
 
Unlock Operation
When unlock signal from Keyless operation key is transmitted, front door LH is unlocked. When unlock signal is transmitted from Keyless operation key within 2 seconds again, all doors are unlocked.
 
 
REMINDER FUNCTION (INTELLIGENT KEY)
 
 
Operation Description
When doors are locked or unlocked by Keyless operation key button operation, BCM blinks hazard warning lamps as a reminder and transmits horn request signal to IPDM E/R via CAN communication. The reminder function has C mode and S mode.

Operation Condition
When any door is open, reminder function does not operate according to door lock operation.
 
 
How to Change Reminder Function Operation Mode
  • Reminder function operation mode can be changed using combination meter setting.
  • When lock and unlock signal are sent from the Keyless operation key for more than 4 seconds at the same time, the hazard and buzzer reminder mode is changed and hazard warning light blinks and horn sounds as per the following items:
 
 
AUTO DOOR LOCK FUNCTION (INTELLIGENT KEY)
After door is unlocked by Keyless operation key button operation and if 30 seconds or more passes without performing the following operation, all doors are automatically locked. However, operation check function does not activate.
Operating condition
  • Door switch is ON (door is open)
  • Keyless operation key unit receives lock signal
  • Push switch is pressed
 
 
Power liftgate OPEN/CLOSE FUNCTION
When power liftgate open button is pressed, power liftgate open automatically for detailed description.

PANIC ALARM
When panic alarm button is pressed, horn sounds and headlight blinks.

REMOTE ENGINE START FUNCTION
When remote engine start button is pressed, engine can be started.
Refer to System Description.
 
 
OPERATION AREA
To check that the Keyless operation key works normally, use within 1 m (3 ft.) range of each door, however the operable range may differ according to surroundings.
