Diagnosis Procedure
1.CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH SIGNAL
With M.U.T.-III SE
  1. Select “EPS/DAST 3”, “Data List” and “Ignition SW” in this order.
  2. Ignition switch OFF.
  3. Check that the item is “OFF”.
  4. Ignition switch ON.
  5. Check that the item is “ON”.
Is the inspection result normal?

Perform the trouble diagnosis for USM. Refer toDTC Index
 
2.CHECK ACC POWER SUPPLY FOR POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE
  1. Pull the parking brake switch.
    noteCheck the parking brake switch indicator is turn On.
  2. Ignition switch OFF.
  3. Get out of the vehicle and close all doors.
  4. Wait 65 seconds.
    note
    • Check the parking brake switch indicator turn OFF.
    • If the rear brake caliper is heated, wait an hour so that parking brake switch indicator does not turn OFF.
  5. Disconnect power steering control module harness connector.
  6. Check voltage between power steering control module harness connector terminals and ground.

  7. Ignition switch ON.
    cautionNever start the engine.
  8. Check voltage between power steering control module harness connector and ground.

3.CHECK ACC POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE
  1. Pull the parking brake switch.
    noteCheck the parking brake switch indicator is turn On.
  2. Ignition switch OFF.
  3. Get out of the vehicle and close all doors.
  4. Wait 65 seconds.
    note
    • Check the parking brake switch indicator turn OFF.
    • If the rear brake caliper is heated, wait an hour so that parking brake switch indicator does not turn OFF.
  5. Check the 5A fuse (#33).
  6. Check continuity between power steering control module harness connector and the fuse block (J/B).

Is the inspection result normal?
Perform the trouble diagnosis for ignition power supply circuit.
Repair / replace harness, connector, or fuse.
 
4.CHECK 12V BATTERY POWER SUPPLY FOR POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE
  1. Pull the parking brake switch.
    noteCheck the parking brake switch indicator is turn On.
  2. Ignition switch OFF.
  3. Get out of the vehicle and close all doors.
  4. Wait 65 seconds.
    note
    • Check the parking brake switch indicator turn OFF.
    • If the rear brake caliper is heated, wait an hour so that parking brake switch indicator does not turn OFF.
  5. Check voltage between power steering control module harness connector terminals and ground.

  6. Ignition switch ON.

  7. Check voltage between power steering control module harness connector terminals and ground.

5.CHECK 12V BATTERY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE
  1. Pull the parking brake switch.
    noteCheck the parking brake switch indicator is turn On.
  2. Ignition switch OFF.
  3. Get out of the vehicle and close all doors.
  4. Wait 65 seconds.
    note
    • Check the parking brake switch indicator turn OFF.
    • If the rear brake caliper is heated, wait an hour so that parking brake switch indicator does not turn OFF.
  5. Check the 100A fusible link (#H).
  6. Check the harness for open or short between power steering control module harness connector No.7 terminal and the 100A fusible link (#H).
Is the inspection result normal?
Perform the trouble diagnosis for power supply circuit.
Repair / replace harness, connector, or fusible link.
 
6.CHECK POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE GROUND CIRCUIT
Check continuity between power steering control module harness connector and ground.

Repair / replace harness or connector.
 
7.CHECK TERMINAL
  1. Pull the parking brake switch.
    noteCheck the parking brake switch indicator is turn On.
  2. Ignition switch OFF.
  3. Get out of the vehicle and close all doors.
  4. Wait 65 seconds.
    note
    • Check the parking brake switch indicator turn OFF.
    • If the rear brake caliper is heated, wait an hour so that parking brake switch indicator does not turn OFF.
  5. Check power steering control module terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
  6. Check fuse block (J/B) terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
Is the inspection result normal?
INSPECTION END
Repair / replace harness, connector, or terminal.
