POSSIBLE CAUSE
  • Harness and connectors [A/F sensor 1 heater circuit is open or shorted.]
  • A/F sensor 1 heater

DTC Confirmation Procedure
1.CHECK DTC PRIORITY
If DTC P0053 is displayed with the following DTC, perform the trouble diagnosis for the applicable DTC.
  • P0130
  • P0031
  • P0032
If applicable DTC detected?
Perform diagnosis of applicable.

2.PRECONDITIONING
If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previousl conducted, always perform the following procedure before conducting the next test.
  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
  2. Turn ignition switch ON.
  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
TESTING CONDITION:
Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is between 10 V and 16 V at idle.

3.PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
  1. Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 25°C (77°) or more.
  2. Keep the engine at idle at idle at least 35 seconds.
  3. Check DTC.
Is 1st trip DTC detected?
Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.
